by Dr. Robert C. Lane 400 pages; quality trade paperback (softcover/hardcover available); ISBN 1-4251-0907-1 Available through: Amazon; www.barnesandnoble.com; www.trafford.com ABOUT THE BOOK The thesis of the book is that the pathological background material may occur very early in life. The roots of envy, entitlement, revenge, and negativity may go back to infancy and misalliances between mother and infant. From Freud's Oedipal period as the cause of the neuroses, we are now looking at the pre-Oedipal stages for the onset of pathology. According to the book, the negative therapeutic reaction (NTR) has its roots in the mother/infant relationship in which the mother is just not attuned to her baby's needs. On October 24, 2006 the Wall Street Journal had an article entitled, "Sending the Baby to a Shrink." The article pointed out that, "therapists are increasingly moving their treatments from the couch to the crib." Parents are eager to catch what might become a serious problem, early. More and more the therapeutic services are being utilized for relatively healthy babies. More clinics are offering courses for mothers on various child problems. The current trend makes the subject matter covered in this book extremely relevant and important reading material. CONTENTS
